The deepfakes technology grows scarily better with each coming day – and to prove this, we have found some of the most believable deepfakes on the internet.
Deepfakes are synthetic pieces of media in which a person’s face is replaced with another person’s face. Using powerful techniques from machine learning and artificial intelligence in order to manipulate visual and audio content, deepfakes have a great power to deceive the viewer into believing they are actually real.
The popularity of deepfakes came into attention after they have been used in celebrity pornographic materials, revenge porn, fake news and financial fraud. The term originates from Reddit, when in 2017 a user named these fake videos deepfakes. Back then, an entire community came into existence with this very name, where people shared on a daily basis various pornographic videos, in which the faces of the sex workers had been replaced with the faces of various reputable Hollywood actresses.
