Viral game “Among Us” will no longer get a sequel, due to being too popular

The game “Among Us” has gathered a massive following of fans – and to the surprise of those fans, the developers behind the game have announced that there will be no sequel, due to the game being too popular.

A sequel to the game has initially been announced 39 days ago. The developers from InnerSloth have canceled the sequel: “The main reason we [were] shooting for a sequel is because the codebase of Among Us 1 is so outdated and not built to support adding so much new content. However, seeing how many people are enjoying Among Us 1 really makes us want to be able to support the game and take it to the next level,” InnerSloth said in a blog post.

The game “Among Us” is a party game, in which you have to work as a team, in order to find out who is sabotaging the spaceship where the game takes place. It has become a massive hit in no time, becoming the third most-played game on Steam, where it costs $4.99. On Steam alone, over 10 million people own the game. However, there also many people owning the game on their iOS and Android devices, where the game can be played for free with ads, as The Verge reports.

Even if the sequel will no longer appear, you will get to enjoy the ideas the developers had for it: “All of the content we had planned for Among Us 2 will instead go into Among Us 1,” InnerSloth pointed out.

The improved version of “Among Us” will include several fixes for server issues, colorblind support, the option to befriend people and a new stage to play on. ” This is probably the more difficult choice because it means going deep into the core code of the game and reworking several parts of it,” the developers said on the blog.
